The project

Terra Screws installs engineered ground screw pile foundations across Halifax and Nova Scotia, for jobs like decks, additions, sheds and garages, fences and retaining walls, solar arrays and rock drilling.

Most homeowners have never heard of ground screws. The website had to explain a service people do not know, and make it easy to ask for a quote.

What I built

  • A custom site coded from scratch and built mobile-first
  • A clear breakdown of each type of job, so a visitor can find theirs quickly
  • A plain side-by-side explanation of ground screws versus poured concrete
  • A simple three-step process showing what happens from first call to finished install
  • Real photos instead of stock images
  • A free quote flow with the phone number always within reach

Results

The old site loaded 64 scripts. The rebuilt site loads one. Fewer scripts means less for a phone to download and run before the page is usable.

Text contrast went from a ratio of 1.3 to 7.11. A ratio of 7 or higher meets the strictest WCAG level for normal text, which makes the site easier for everyone to read.
